Card fees increased by 600 percent
Ryanair’s fee for customers who choose to pay with debit cards has increased by 600 percent in a year and a half. And they are not alone on increases.
Several airlines have increased the fees in the last 18 months, according to the British consumer association Which? Holiday. Ryanair leads the league with an increase from 70 pence to 5 pounds per person. Those who pay by credit card will now have to pay 5 instead of 2 pounds.
But Ryanair is not alone. Wizz Air, Thomas Cook UK and First Choice are others who have increased their fees a lot the last 18 months.
– We understand that it costs extra to pay their plane tickets when purchasing with credit or debit card but how can these airlines justify to customers to pay 600 percent more than they did 18 months ago? says Lorna Cowan, editor of Which? Holiday.
