20 000 Employees Hunger Strike At Air India
In protest against a proposed wage cut, 20000 employees went on a hunger strike at Air India.
Managing Director at Air India, Arvind Jadhav, has proposed to cut down the salaries of the employees at the company. The productivity-based part of their salary, which usually amounts to around one third of their total salary, will be halved as proposed. Two thirds, or 20000 persons, of those employees are now on hunger strike in a direct protest against these wage cuts.
Air India made a loss of 1 billion US Dollars last year.
