Disneyland to open in Shanghai, China
Disney gives China a second chance. While the amusement park in Hong Kong has been somewhat of a failure so far, the company believes that a Shanghai Disneyland will be a success.
The first information about the U.S. entertainment giant planning another site in China came at the beginning of the year. Since then there has been virtually silent, until now.
Authorities in Shanghai have given Disney the green light to start building. The location is the district Pudong where the city’s international airport is located. While the Disneyland in Hong Kong has not attracted as many visitors as projected, the general interest in Shanghai for Donald, Mickey and the others is be much much bigger.
According to a local market analysts the hype around Disneyland is even larger than that around the World Expo 2010.
Opening is schedueled to take place in 2014.
